About Silicon Investigations
Silicon Investigations was originally founded as
a semiconductor reverse engineering company. We have grown as a provider
of highly specialized services for the semiconductor and electronics industries.
We offer many diverse services to industry and academia, including semiconductor
and electronic systems reverse engineering, product development consulting,
electronic
design and prototyping , high vacuum system
design and retrofit, scientific
and industrial electronic repair, I.C. decapsulation
services and decapsulation machine repair services, intellectual
property and patent support services, high voltage
and high current trigger tube design and manufacturing,
support
and repair of Hewlett Packard (Agilent, Keysight) test equipment, and
semiconductor design consulting. In addition, we also conduct basic
research in semiconductor design, characterization, and process development
for emerging technologies including low K dielectrics, graphene and graphene
oxide.
We have extensive in house prototyping capabilities for semiconductor and
electronic circuit designs. Our semiconductor research and prototyping
equipment includes lithography and lithographic mask production, plasma and
wet processing of semiconductor devices, processing furnaces, ion milling
systems, vacuum metalization and deposition systems, CMP and CVD systems,
wafer probers, wafer dicing equipment, wire bonding and die bonding systems,
optical and electron microscopes, laser machining and processing systems,
diagnostic laser cutters, cryogenic processing and test systems, and electrical
test and characterization equipment. We also have support for MEMS manufacturing
with high aspect ratio plasma etching, reactive ion etching (RIE) and ion
milling. In addition, we can fabricate ceramic substrate multi chip
modules (MCM) and specialized high frequency substrates. Having a wide
variety of in house capabilities speeds our response to projects by cutting
out the third party suppliers and the associated lead times found in those
industries.
We also design, retrofit with modern controls, and maintain high and ultra
high vacuum systems. We can extend the life of your expensive high
vacuum equipment by adding modern controls and redesigning under performing
subsystems. Examples of the types of vacuum systems include sputter
and thermal deposition systems, electron beam evaporation systems, vacuum
thermal processing chambers, and cryogenic vacuum chambers. Please

systems page for more information.
